Description
Your chosen image created by melting together layers glass in different shades of grey. When viewed close up the piece appears to be a general composition of glass squares and as the onlooker stands further away an overall picture suddenly materializes.
Material
The piece will be created using state-of-the-art transparent fusing glass that is melted together at high temperatures in a kiln. The overall piece captures the seductive tactile and reflective qualities of glass.
Technique
Emily has developed the process for forming images from fused glass. Having selected the key element from the image, Emily breaks it down into small squares. Then, by eye, she builds up layers of glass to form different tones of grey in the different areas of the image. Darker tones for the darker areas and lighter tones for the lighter areas. She then fires the piece in the kiln to melt all the layers together.

Hanging
The piece can either be framed for hanging or secured to the wall using aluminium fixings.
Main image
The type of image that works well is one that is close-up, with high contrast and not too much detail. Emily can advise you as to the suitability of any image. |
Image format
The image can be provided either as a photograph or in digital form (Jpeg or Tiff format). The latter should be of the highest quality possible, a minimum of 300dpi.
Whilst the final piece will be grayscale, the original image does not have to be. All photographs/disks will be returned to you with the piece.

The price does NOT include:
Delivery and installation.
Payment
A 50% deposit will be required with the order and the remaining 50% on the delivery of the piece.
Timescale
Your piece will take a minimum of 10 weeks to design & create (from receipt of the order, deposit and source material). |
